Born in Milan in 1958, Giampaolo Vimercati started fashion photography in 1978, contributing to many Italian magazines, before moving to Paris, where he is based. Passionate of sports, he practices regularly snowboard, tennis, and horse riding. The acquisition of an English thoroughbred encourages him to focus his work on the photography of horses. His work on the great equestrian event Palio di Siena , was exhibited between 2000 and 2002 in France and Italy; On august 2010 his reportage « Les sportifs de l ‘ extreme” was exhibited in Deauville (France) His work has been selected for the book Le Cheval by Robert Delpire, and will be exhibited at the opening of the first photo gallery dedicated exclusively to Horses On April 15th, 2011 in Trouville (France), among other photographers like Henri Cartier Bresson, Elliott Erwitt, Sebastiao Salgado, to name only a few. Fascinated by movement and speed, he has developed particularly sport photography that he mixes with fashion photography and photo-reportages, exploring angles from unexpected points of view . Able to capture the beauty of gestures , he brings glamorous attitudes to the tough world of sport. He regularly collaborates with International magazines : (Italian and Spanish Vanity Fair, Italian L Uomo Vogue , French Sport & Style ,French L Equipe Magazine , Italian Max, Russian and German GQ).
